SCOPE:

  • Fish Removal
  • Construction of tempoary works, cofferdams, bridge, dewatering, flumes.
  • Removal and disposal of unsiutable subgrade
  • Demolition of existing concrete weir
  • Placement of Riprap, edge rocks and fish passage rocks to ecologists approval.
  • Supply and install new Sheet pile weir
  • Construct new fish friendly rock ramp


DESCIPTION:

The existing concrete weir constructed in the early 1900’s was replaced with a new rock ramp to aid fish passage and ecological development in the Avon River. GHC subcontracted to Fulton Hogan on this project to complete all of the physical works on site. This was a technical project in a sensitive environment requiring significant staging, bypassing, dewatering & treatment to allow the necessary equipment access to complete piling and rock placement in the river bed. the project was completed on time and 2 weeks ahead of the consent requirements for spawning season.
